slippages Notebook
I always have a notebook with me. "Idea Books", I call them. The one in my purse tracks my tangents, and nascent thoughts. I may start to label pages with a working title as the idea begins to flesh out. Sometimes the idea stutters to a stop for any number of reasons; I've gone as far with it as I need to go, I've lost interest, or I just can't seem to get it to go further. I usually feel that if I can distill the concept down to a title then it's worth exploring. An idea that feels blocked, but generates a title, will frequently get transferred into my "Ideas to Revisit" book. Once I feel it really has some momentum, the idea earns its own notebook. The closer a project gets to fruition, the more real estate it gets.
I also may write notes into the project book regarding practical aspects; to do lists, notes from phone calls or conversations, budgets (including the occasional household budget notes. and grocery lists..), etc.
Notes from my walls or other ephemera can also end up there: note my continuing penchant for green tape!
